Even though Downton Abbey has been off the air for over a year now the fan culture around it is still in its prime. Last month an actual exhibit for the show premiered in NYC. Found Remote attended and was able to see a first look at the sets from the show brought to life in Manhattan’s midtown west.
According to the announcement:
Visitors will be transported on an incredible journey through the grand home of Downton Abbey as the exhibition peers into the world of the Crawleys and those that served them below stairs. From Mrs. Patmore’s hectic kitchen and the gossip-fuelled servants’ quarters, to the family’s glamorous dining room and Lady Mary’s bedroom, fans will get the chance to walk through some of the series’ most recognizable and beloved sets. Visitors will even come up-close to over 50 of the show’s official costumes worn by their favorite actors including Michelle Dockery, Hugh Bonneville and Dame Maggie Smith.
You can buy tickets to the exhibition through January (adults are $30). Downton is also partnering with The Plaza Hotel for a special tea time.
The show which became a social media and TV sensation in the UK, US and around the world is proving what a productive after-life a TV brand can now have. This exhibit is also good indication that the speculations around the movie might actually happen.
Gareth Neame, an executive producer who was at the premiere explained to Found Remote that right now they are trying to align everyone’s schedules and joked how Julian Fellowes has said that he’s made them all too famous to make it easy to get together anymore.
