Emmys 2017: Colbert’s opening monologue was the most buzzed about moment on Facebook

There was rightfully plenty of buzz around The Handmaid’s Tale winning for Outstanding Drama Series at last night’s Emmys, but Stephen Colbert’s opening monologue – which was heavy on politics – drove the most buzz. Facebook measured the social conversation around the show, breaking down the top 5 most buzzed about moments:

  1. Emmy Awards Host, Stephen Colbert‘s Opening Monologue
  2. The Handmaid’s Tale wins Outstanding Drama Series
  3. Big Little Lies wins Best Limited Series
  4. Nicole Kidman wins Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series for her role in Big Little Lies
  5. Sterling K Brown wins Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role in This is Us

Facebook also measured the most talked about shows ahead of last night’s awards, and found that, based on conversation volume, audiences rightfully “predicted” these three winners:

  • Outstanding Comedy Series – Veep
  • Outstanding Drama Series – This Is Us
  • Outstanding Limited Series – Big Little Lies
