YouTube announces celebrity-filled originals at ‘Brandcast’ presentation

YouTube held it’s annual Brandcast event last night at New York City’s Javitz Center. A platform that was originally known for randomly funny and viral videos, is now maturing to a premium content network. The giant event and party featured Kevin Hart, James Corden (who performed YouTube: The Musical, celebrating trends from the past year) and a performance from Katy Perry (who has a new show with YouTube).

Susan Wojcicki, the CEO of YouTube smartly said. “YouTube is not TV. And we never will be. The platform that you all helped create represents something bigger. Together with our creators, you built one of the most dynamic, creative and inspiring communities in history: millions of voices, creating hundreds of millions of videos, all being watched by over a billion people.”

Additionally, Marc Mathieu the CMO of Samsung Electronics America said that they, “reached over 40% of US millennials in just one day” and that, “more than 75% of that happened on a mobile phone.” Here’s there new slate of shows.
